I’m 22 and live in Portsmouth since graduating with a 2:1 in German and Translation Studies from Aston University. I have no idea what to do with the rest of my life, still trying to figure that one out! At the moment I work in a call centre, but I’m now looking to get into the translation industry.

I was still pretty new to the internets and Becky somehow came across Liam Lynch’s creation. They’re somewhat insane sock puppets whose sense of humor (perhaps worryingly) is very much the same as our own.

We remembered them today and spent all evening looking through the videos on YouTube and trying to find somewhere to buy or download all the episodes from, but to no avail. If anyone has any idea, please let me know!

In the meantime, enjoy Baby for Gravy

C-Mon & Kypski need your help to complete the music video...

C-Mon & Kypski need your help to complete the music video for “More is Less”!

1. Get a job I enjoy - Surprisingly enough, I think it will involve translating German - something I declared my hatred for for many many years

2. Finish Tomb Raider - I’ve got stuck a few months ago and gave up - You will not defeat me Lara Croft

3. Actually use my Wii Fit - Another thing I stopped doing a few months ago - I was doing so well!

4. Learn some HTML or CSS - Or something else nerdy, whatever Rob thinks is more useful

5. Throw things away (or find clever places/ways to hide them) - Especially clothes I don’t wear because my wardrobe and chest of drawers are absolutely full

6. Move out - I’ve scrounged off Mummy and Daddy long enough

7. Spend more time being social - With my family, my Rob and my friends

8. Save up enough for a big trip - If not the Round-the-World trip we had planned, then America or Australia

9. Keep up with stuff - Be it people, podcasts, TV shows, books, the news…I’m always behind!

10. Stop being so reliant on my car - As much as I love it, we need to spend some time apart. Maybe when it gets a bit warmer though!

36 Rules of Life

zadi:

1. Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

2. Don’t worry about what people think, they don’t do it very often.

4. Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity.

5. If you must choose between two evils, pick the one you’ve never tried before.

6. My idea of housework is to sweep the room with a glance.

7. Not one shred of evidence supports the notion that life is serious.

8. A person who is nice to you but rude to the waiter, is not a nice person.

9. For every action, there is an equal and opposite government program.

30. Nobody cares if you can’t dance well. Just get up and dance.

33. You will never find anybody who can give you a clear and compelling reason why we observe daylight savings time.

34. You should never say anything to a woman that even remotely suggests that you think she’s pregnant unless you can see an actual baby emerging from her at that moment.

35. The one thing that unites all human beings, regardless of age, gender, religion, economic status or ethnic background, is that deep down inside we ALL believe we are good drivers.

36. Your friends love you anyway.

This is my creation - my astronaut alter ego with her space parrot (I’ve named him Fred)

Flights Are Booked!

When I finished my year abroad in Germany back in 2008, I thought I’d never ever ever want to go back. But now me and Rob have booked our tickets to go back to Cologne.

We’re going to stay with a friend of mine and hopefully make our way out to the countryside to see the family I stayed with out there. I’m so excited! We’re going to go to the Christmas market in Cologne and maybe Düsseldorf or Aachen, go to Saturn and Media Markt, the massive electronics shops (nerd alert) we loved, have lunch at Galeria Kaufhof….

I had some real issues at work sorting out the holiday time though. No-one had told me you can’t carry over holidays to next year, and the day I found out they took the boking system down. Then when it finally came back, there was no time available so the holidays people booked me random days! Luckily the head of my section managed to sort it all out though.

I’m so excited now! Beware an onslaught of photos!

We met Ben Fogle!

We met Ben Fogle!

No More Call Centres!

Argh!

I got out of work today and found I had two voicemails, both from agencies who’d seen my CV online and wanted to speak to me. I was really excited and as soon as I got in I started looking up the phone numbers to see if it was anyone exciting.

Both of them were temp jobs in call centres, or “not a call centre, more of a helpdesk”.

It’s clearly on my CV that I want to move away from call centres and into translation! One of them has said she’d keep me on file and maybe contact someone in Winchester for me, but they were both quite negative about having anything come up for me.

Back to the phones tomorrow then…

Look what I got for my iPhone!

Paperchase is my favourite shop in the world. First of all they sell notebooks - an obsession I’ve had for many, many years. Second of all, the stuff they sell is always so cute. If IKEA (for furniture and food) had a Paperchase corner, I’d live there.

Oh Noes

I think I just became something I’ve always hated!

Today I bought skinny jeans and fake Ugg boots.
1. I used to come to blows with my sister about who got to play the pink Power Ranger
2. I have no idea why electricity is dangerous despite many people’s attempts to explain it to me
3. I was the very first Sixer of the Sprites in my Brownie pack
4. I had keyboard lessons for three years despite having a complete lack of rhythm and musical talent
5. I still can’t spell rhythm without thinking of the “rhythm has your two hips moving” mnemonic
6. I still bear the scars (and giant lump on my head) of an unfortunate Hang Tough incident – Don’t try to recreate anything you’ve seen on Gladiators
7. I still have all my old school books under my bed at home
8. I once won 50 Merit Points for my “close investigation of mud” on a school trip
9. If I could only eat one thing forever, it would be Café Rouge’s garlic breadsticks
10. I’m fairly sure I only passed my driving test because I was wearing a low cut top
11. I won £80 at bingo when I was about 10 and all the old ladies looked really mad
12. I cheated in my Spanish GCSE oral until I got caught and they took my script away
13. I’ve still got a notebook somewhere in which me and Becky rewrote a load of pop songs in Year 8/9
14. I used to collect notebooks and still tend to come back with one wherever I go
15. I had Osgood-Schlatter disease in my knee
16. You wouldn’t know it to look at me now, but when I was younger I did swimming, trampolining, gymnastics and badminton
17. I still harbour an urge to abseil down the chalk cliffs in Portsmouth
18. I’ve helped to build some kick-ass campfires in my time
19. I’d never had a curry until I came to Birmingham
20. I once met Cherie Blair in the toilets at the NIA
21. I broke my sister’s bed whilst dancing to Ricky Martin’s Shake Your Bon-Bon
22. I can’t go anywhere without someone asking me “Is your hair naturally like that?” and have actually had my hair groped by a middle-aged woman who was walking past
23. I have no idea what stocks and shares are, why the FTSE is important or about anything the Bank of England does
24. I didn’t drink coffee until I tasted some really disgusting self-warming stuff my English teacher raved about and didn’t drink tea until the Müllers started giving me really weak stuff
25. When I was bored on the bus to work or college, I used to translate the song I was listening to into German in my head
